Ella Mae DeMarie

	Ella Mae DeMarie, age 71, of Du Quoin, passed away Monday evening, September 8, 2003 in the Fair Acres Nursing Home in Du Quoin.
	Ella Mae was born September 25, 1932 in Du Quoin,  a daughter of Sam and Clara  (Doolin) Haggard.  She married Merino John DeMarie on February 8, 1949 in Pinckneyville and he preceded her in death on March 3, 1992.  Ella Mae was a lifelong resident of Du Quoin and worked as a nurse's aid at Marshall Browning Hospital for 35 years, retiring in 1995.  She was also an auxiliary member of the American Legion.
	Survivors include three sons, John DeMarie and wife Virginia, Sam DeMarie and wife Teresa and Merino DeMarie  Jr., all of Du Quoin; one brother, Charles Haggard and wife Mary An of Bourbonnais; one sister, Lorene Hackelman and husband Billy of Du Quoin; eight grandchildren, Lindsey DeMarie, Merino DeMarie III, Kyle DeMarie, Shawna Strickland, Angie Shivley, Dee O'Rourke, Kristi DeMarie and John DeMarie and five great-grandchildren, Jacob O'Rourke, Ryne O'Rourke, Ayla Furlow, Avery Shivley and Cameron Shivley.
	She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merino John DeMarie; one daughter, Tina DeMarie O'Rourke; two brothers, Lyle Haggard and Don Haggard; two sisters-in-law, Katherine DeMarie and Dora DeMarie and one nephew, Gary Hackelman.
	Funeral services were held at the Pyatt-Harrawood & Epplin Funeral Home in Du Quoin on Thursday, September 11 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Tim Madison officiating.  Interment was in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Du Quoin.
	Friends called at the Pyatt-Harrawood & Epplin Funeral Home in Du Quoin on Wednesday, September 10 from 5  to 8 p.m. and then again on Thursday from 8 a.m. until time of service.
	Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Perry County.
